Summer 2007 Four Directions Mobile Office Team The second week of each month  on Wednesday and Thursday, Four Directions lending staff will set up shop at the tribal housing authorities in one of two counties - Aroostook County or Washington County - to meet with tribal members who are interested in home or business loans.
FDDC staff visits will occur on the following schedule:

May 21 and 22, 2007
A two day orientation session at the Aroostook County tribes is scheduled. Four Directions Development Corporation staff will work with the Aroostook Band of Micmacs and the Houlton Band of Maliseets to present information about Four Directions Development Corporation's history and our educational and lending programs for tribal members and the tribal leadership.

April 27th, 2007
Four Directions Development Corporation will present information about Four Directions Development Corporation's business education and lending program to the board of the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance.  Basketmakers and other business owners are eligible for the Trickle Up grant program, Computers for ME program, and the Individual Development Account savings program that is administered through the area Community Action Program as well at Women Work and Community. March 19 and 20, 2007
A two day orientation session at the Washington County tribes is scheduled. Four Directions Development Corporation staff will work with the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point and at Indian Township to present information about Four Directions Development Corporation's history and our educational and lending programs for tribal members and the tribal leadership.

Dec 2006 Wabanaki Business Development Institute Calais  The third of three summits held in Maine that will focus on workforce development and environmental sensing  by tracking national and global trends. The Institute is intended to:

1. Use core building blocks to enhance economic and workforce development at the tribal level

2. Use “best practices” and cultural values from Indian Country to provide tools for business development and decision making that provide opportunities for successful tribal working relationships with the private and public sector.

3. Build partnerships between and among Maine tribes to take advantage of initiatives and projects that focus on the Tribes “competitive advantage” in the local, national, and global marketplace.

 4.Maine tribes will create Native based private and public sector entities that will provide opportunities for business and economic development that will benefit all tribal members.

October 2006 Business Planning Training - "Six Week Start Up" Curriculum

Four Directions Development Corp. is offering Six Week Start Up, a six week program, in partnership with the Maine Small Business Development Center at Northern Maine Development Commission.This training program is designed to encourage the art of better business practices and teach you how to write a comprehensive business plan to guide your business expansion decisions and activities. Throughout the course, the Small Business Development Center instructor will focus on developing skills in areas such as; Time Management, Business Concepts, Legal Structures of Business, Marketing, Record Keeping, Financial Statements, Financial Resources and Writing a Business Plan.
